In honor of Mother's Day, we wanted to round up some of the best mom advice ever...

That's why we asked some of our top moms to tell us what they would share with other women (that's you!) if asked for advice about motherhood.

Here's a roundup of the best mom advice we received...

The best gift you could give yourself...

When we have little ones, Mother's Day is often not the "day off" that we fantasize about...

It isn't a day of sleeping in or relaxation...and it doesn't feel any different than a regular ole day of "mom hustle."

If I'm 100% honest, I've spent my share of Mother's Days feeling stressed and bummed because it wasn't what I expected...

Because it wasn't that dreamy day I'd hoped for...

But guess what? All of my unmet expectations were never the responsibility of my kids (or my spouse)...Those are on me.

My little kids don't know the difference between Mother's Day and NOT Mother's Day...and neither do yours.

They only know that you're the one they want to get their snack and to soothe their fears and to give them the snuggles...

They only know that you're the one they want to get them their favorite cup and to give them their bath and to make them lunch...

Remember this, your kids only whine to you because you are their VERY FAVORITE PERSON in the whole world...and that, my friend, is an honor.

You are the big adult friend who they call on when they are in crisis (even if the "crisis" is that their sock is dumb or they don't like the shape of their pancake)...

So today, when you're tempted to be sad about not getting the day off, remember to let go of that expectation.

Mother's Day isn't about days off...Moms don't get those (at least not in this stage of life when we're still raising babies.)

Mother's Day is about celebrating your job as a mom...

The best (even though the hardest) job in the world.

Today the best gift you could get is from yourself...To let go of lofty expectations that only serve to add stress to your life.

What she's learned most about motherhood...

The best thing I've learned about motherhood is that there is no greater accomplishment.

Nici Brooks, one of our newest contributors and owner of, says this is what she's learned most about mom life...

I hate it when people ask me what my greatest accomplishment is because, for fear of sounding cheesy, the only answer I can think of is becoming a mom...

Which ironically was the ONE thing I NEVER wanted to be.

...I should say I never wanted it until I met my husband. I knew he'd be a great partner and father, and I guess that was the big difference.

Now that I'm a mom, I can't imagine any other accomplishment being as awesome as being a mom.

We also asked seasoned contributor, Jen LaChance, her take on the best mom advice...Here's what she had to say...

Here's what she says is the best thing about motherhood...

Looking back I realize I knew nothing.

About anything.

Coming from my selfish single girl perspective, I thought I had this life thing figured out before I got pregnant. I was rolling through life like a chicken on roller skates.

But then when you find yourself 42 and knocked up reality kicks in like a shot of tequila.

My self-centered life of single living luxury was about to come to a halt in a time-release capsule of nine months.

Actually, I was too dumb to know I was pregnant and even when it hit me it could be a possibility, it took me two weeks to actually get the nerve to take the test...

And she came six weeks early, so I really only had about 5 months of actual "omg get your crap together you're having a baby" time.

But you know what?

From the moment I found out, I was forever changed. I knew I would do anything for that little bundle of cells growing inside me.

I learned really quickly that it's ok to know nothing about having a baby, much less raising one. Because you will figure it out.

And on the days you feel like your circus of monkeys has taken over and you may not survive, you just have to dig a little deeper and find you are a stronger, smarter, braver badass as a mom than you ever were on your own because this little tribe is yours and they love you and they are depending on you.

Yes, ultimately, you are their go to.

Their person.

It's okay to fall down flat on our tired butts at the end of the day but we gotta get back before sunrise the next day and do it all over again.

That's something I never knew I was capable of before my wild child came along.

I am a different person than before. My abilities to love, learn, and listen have grown beyond measure and my capability to raise a tiny human is astonishing daily.

So what's the best thing about Motherhood?

Everything you know that you didn't even realize you never knew was missing ❤
